Oogling and Ogling...

In my spare time I love to scour the blogging world for new and exciting things to just oogle and ogle over or to share with others. Here are some things that I'm eyeing and want to share with you. Some of these things I'm just oogling because I'm quite the bargainer and can't stomach making purchases larger than what I'm comfortable with, It's this guilt thing that I have. But if someone were to gift me with these things then I would feel completely comfortable accepting! Enjoy your oogling and ogling or maybe you will just take the plunge and purchase! 

I found this website and these are some things that I really want. I love everything about EMERSONMADE and their style is just phenomenal. Classy and flirty and simple all rolled into one. Just love it! This is how I would dress every single day if I could...which I could but sometimes I just don't care to try, sad I know. This is an oogle for me...

This is a very wishful website, Altar'd. They have really great finds for purchase or they offer a tutorial to make your furniture look like theirs. This is an oogle only because I haven't attempted to try this on my own furniture yet and I don't want to pay for someone else to do it when I know that I can do this...

Obsessed! We have a dresser in our guest bedroom that I've been racking my brain over...how do I do this, what color do I want, when should I attempt this major feat? I'm loving this because this is something that I've been waiting and wanting to do forever. I think I'm scared...I just need to dive in and do it...still scared.

This is just a cute little craft that I found online, easy breezy right?! 

I think I'll try it, but I would put a piece of glass over the top. This is not an oogle, I can stomach the purchase of these materials, hello Hobby Lobby 50% off everything like everyday.

This represents the itch I have to purge my closet and go out and purchase a whole new wardrobe...

So instead, I just make a wish list through online browsing, ugh. But I refuse to buy anything new until I can shed about 10 lbs., this 10 lbs. is seriously haunting me. Why is it so hard to get rid of, I don't think I'm trying hard enough. But all I can say is that it's really annoying. Don't judge me for wanting to lose 10 lbs. I think even more annoying than those extra lbs. is when people get mad at you for wanting to lose a few to feel content. This is what I'm thinking when people say that to me: "Get over it, you do what's good for you and I'll do what's good for me. Thanks."

I'm leaving now to go and do some craft therapy...I think I have a few therapies. Blog Therapy, Craft Therapy and Antique Therapy. They all make me really happy, it just depends on my mood. I'll post pictures. I have an Antique Therapy blog coming up, this place is amazing with a capital A! Hope you're enjoying some kind of therapy of your own!

A Weekend of FIRSTS!

This is going to be mostly a picture blog because there is just way too much to talk about. A couple of weekends ago David and I went to Amarillo for Micah's first birthday and Emma Kate's first ballet recital. We always have so much fun with those kiddos, it's play time from the minute we get there to the minute we leave!

Go, Go, Go! Whirlwind of a weekend!

David and I went to Lone Star Park in Grand Prarie to see Casey Donahew Band. It was fun, fun, fun! We LOVE Texas country! It is by far the best! This is David's favorite Casey Donahew song....Back Home In Texas. Enjoy!

I also discovered a new favorite this evening. For all you gals out there, it is a must try! It's $14 and the perfect summer cocktail...and low calorie! It doesn't get better than that!

Our friends Leigh Ann and Blair met up with us. This was the first time we had actually hung out with Blair because he just moved here to be with his lovely Leigh Ann. Great guy, great couple, love them both and can't wait to hang out again!! Wish we would have taken a picture, we were just havin' to much fun!

Saturday, David and I were just lounging around and his boss called to see if David and I wanted 4 tickets to the Rangers/Yankees game...we jumped on that one! With 5 hours to game time, he went to pick up the tickets, I went on search for a Rangers shirt (that I didn't even wear) and we called one of our favorite couples Lance and Rachael Doty to come along. 

IT WAS A BLAST! I had never been to the Rangers Ballpark and it is massive and wonderful and so much fun! I can't wait to go again! We are actually going in July for David and our BIL's birthday's. David's is the 24th and Casey's is the 23rd. There is actually a game that weekend, so we're pumped! We all still laugh about how that worked out so well!

And some peanuts! Now, I know what you are probably thinking...but it's okay folks to have A beverage or two especially at the Ranger's game! We really like bloody mary's and we will give the best spicy bloody mary award to the Ranger's Ballpark in Arlington! Seriously deeelish!

We had great seats! We were on the third level and the rail was in front of us, it was perfect!

So then Sunday came along and we went to church. We go to Richland Hills Church of Christ. The worship service was amazing this morning. The singing was absolutely spectacular. We go to the 9:00 service because we prefer the more traditional approach. David and I really like the ACU/Camp Blue Haven kind of worship songs...you know what I'm talking about if you are familiar with either.

I really wanted to cook since I hadn't cooked all weekend because we were constantly on the go. I wanted to make a spectacular meal, a David kind of meal since he hasn't had home cooked food in soooo long. I made Pioneer Woman meatloaf...

Mmm mmm good! And yes, it is completely wrapped in bacon! The only thing I didn't do was use a broiler pan because I didn't have one. I would recommend it because then you don't have that fatty mess surrounding your beautiful meatloaf when it's finished baking. I fixed good ol' homemade mashed potatoes and fresh green beans as my sides. I wanted to fix PW's Creamy Mashed Potatoes but I forgot the half and half and cream cheese at the store so I just stuck with the old fashioned kind--milk, butter, salt and pepper. Needless to say, it was a hit and we have tons of leftovers. This would be a good meal to make for 4-6 adults. Luckily my husband will eat left overs and I sometimes have those days when I don't feel like cooking so it all works out!

So then, later Sunday evening I decided to make my first ever attempt at making bread in our Oster Breadmaker that we recieved as a wedding gift. David wanted me to make sourdough but I told him that I was just going to attempt regular ol' white bread first. It was much easier than I thought, but in the directions they tell you several times that you have to get the ingrediants completely exact for your bread to rise properly. I thought I was pretty exact until I saw that the top didn't rise properly.

Then, I noticed the sides and the bottom were hard as a rock. I was pretty sad at this point. I had waited 3 hours for this bread and it's hard! I cut into it and the top and the middle were perfectly soft and tasted delicious! So I wrapped it in foil and then put it in a zip-lock bag. To my surprise the next morning, the bread had softened everywhere. I guess being in the baggy overnight created the perfect amount of moisture that it needed. Heck, I don't know... but whatever I did it worked!

Here it is!

It made a 2 pound loaf! I sent it all with David to Temple. He'll be back Wednesday and will probably demand more bread, sourdough. I have a feeling that I will be making a lot of bread until he gets sick of it.

Sunday was our chore day since we were on the go so much this weekend; cleaned, laundry, mowed, bathed dogs! We were exhausted after this weekend but it was oh-so-fun!! Next weekend, strictly lounging around the house!

Happy mother's day to my wonderful mother-in-law! I'm so lucky to have gained another great mother and role model. Thank you so much for everything you've done for David, I know he wouldn't be who he is today without your guidance  and superior mother skills :)

These are the GORGEOUS flowers that Kristen, Casey, David and I sent to my mother on Friday. We had them sent to her school and she was so shocked! I scoured OKC for the best florist and Tony Foss was the one that was repeatedly recommended. I told him I was pretty picky with my flowers and he definitely impressed! 

This is the text we received from mom:

"Oh my gosh!!!! The flowers are so beautiful!!! Thank you!!!!!"

We wanted to surprise her and make her feel super special to show how much we love and appreciate her! I think flowers are the best way to surprise someone. So I know that Tony Foss is my guy from now on in OKC!

First, I must mention that yesterday was my birthday and so many people went out of their way to make me feel special. I was sang to four whole times, that's a lot at 28! My mother first thing, she is always the one to call me first, ever since I moved away from home. Emma Kate, Noah and my sister and of course baby Micah put in his two cents with a little scream. Chris, Merry and Annie sang and little man Cason said what sounded like "poo poo," I know what his little two year old intentions were...sweet sweet boy. Finally, my in-laws called and Ronnie sang his little rendition of Happy Birthday. David and my dad called and chose not to sing, so they better believe that I will remember that! Only kidding, they were both at work and I can only imagine what people surrounding them might have thought if they were singing on the phone. I am blessed beyond belief by such an amazing family! Love, love, love!

I cannot leave out the greatest group of gals I know! I am not one to really celebrate my birthday, ever. I'm not sure why, but I've never made a big deal out of it. If I've ever celebrated, it's only because someone else insisted on planning a little shin-dig. I don't enjoy being in the limelight, I'm an introvert, I don't reach out to new people (only if I'm forced to somehow), therefore it's really hard for me to make new friends because I feel awkward and uncomfortable if forced into a situation to be out-going. Now that is a confession if I've ever had one! But sometimes there are new people that are very easy to connect with because somehow I just feel comfortable and can sense that this person is right for me and I feel okay about letting my guard down. Strange, I know.

So these great gals planned a dinner for me at Hanabi Hibachi and Sushi, YUM! (I meant to take a picture of all of us and forgot) We went to BJ's to visit, have a mojito and a desert....

We had a wonderful time visiting and catching up, I don't see them enough! So we began planning an entire summer of fun! Only my favorite time of year to be a social butterfly!! So here we go....

1. It all started with my desire to have a Kentucky Derby type get-together. I want everyone to put on their pretty dresses, big hats and bow ties--fun right?! Kind of like Hef and the girls next door--confession: this show used to be one of my guilty pleasures and I'm sad it's over, so now I watch Kendra and Holly's World. Bridget, can you get another show please?! So this is what we will be doing at some point!

2. Next, David and I would like for our friends to go out on the lake in Granbury. I love the lake!! My in-laws just got a new boat and they would like for us to get some use out of it and I will gladly take up that offer! So we have a lake trip planned for sometime in June!

3. Leigh Ann's man is moving here from Alabama FINALLY! They have had a long distance relationship for quite some time, hardest thing ever. So we are going to welcome Blaire in style to make him feel at home! We've all had a hankering to hang out with the great guy that stole our friends heart, so another reason to have a get together!! Leigh Ann is also the only one of us that lives in Dallas, so we promised that we would come to her sometime. Poor thing treks to FTW to see us all the time, we appreciate her dedication :) 4. So when we go, we are going to this place that she loves and wants us to experience called the drybar. No cuts. No color. Just blowouts. $35. Can we say, Yes Please. You know you have those days where you don't feel like washing and fixing your hair. Well, 35 bucks is a great deal to have a fab do! What a fun girls day and of course you've got to get fancied up and go somewhere after that! Here it is in Highland Park....

5. ABILENE.The beginning of all of our friendships, a place that we love, treasure, refer back to often and laugh, just a little bubble of happiness that only those that experienced it can know about. Ah, the many joys that it brought to us and sometimes the "WHAT was a thinking?!?" moments that we all had and now laugh about. We are going back for a visit and can always make our own fun even if we aren't in college anymore by visiting some of our Abilene favorites. So, we will make a trek to west Texas at some point this summer and relive our days, in an adult kind of way.

6. 8.0's in FTW at Sundance Square. I have been there once, but my girlfriends have been there often and swear by it. It's a fun bar with live music, just a good time to be had by all. So I'll be givin' it a try this summer!

To complete my day yesterday, I will finish with the most important person ever, David. He felt so guilty for being out of town on my birthday, I could tell because he called like every 2-3 hours all day to just say, "Happy Birthday, I love you." and "Are you having a good birthday?" He scheduled a massage for me and then I got a pedicure. I was going to get a manicure but I ran out of time, I didn't want to be late to my own birthday dinner so I opted out of the manicure. Love him! This brings me to mention something else...OPI.

I picked out my all time favorite OPI color that I am only drawn to in the summer, Cajun Shrimp. For those of you that are not familiar, get familiar. Complete Awesomeness in every sense of the word. Here ya go....

It appears red, but infact it is orange/red and the.best.ever. To my surprise, my girlfriend Alisa gave me this last night...

Cajun Shrimp is on the end. That's a good friend when you can remember someones favorite OPI color from college, over 4 years ago. The other colors are beautiful and summery and I can't wait to try them! Lovely Leigh Ann gave me this beauty...

I'm thinking of pairing this with a fun little black summer dress or blank tank. I love it! And to top off my entire birthday, my husband is coming back today and will take up full-time residency at our home! My biggest and best birthday surprise! Thank you all for making my 28th so special!!
